In some companies, e.g. in mechanical engineering sector, it is very important to register which Item Version is approved since in this type of company’s items are seen more like a work in progress and are developed continuously. Therefore, item master data has to be extended with a secondary table.
A new table behind the Item table has to be created with additional information about Item Versions (history as well). Relevant data is shown within a FactBox. A new function to create a new Production BOM Version based on a new Item Version is needed. The certified Item Version has to be tracked along the production process (Production Order Lines).
Open an Item Card and setup a new No. Series for Item Versions.
Go to the menu and open the new table for Item Versions (from List or Card, both is available). You will find the Item Versions after the entry for Item Variants:
Create new Item Versions using the fields "Valid from", "Valid to", Status, "Validation date" and "Drawing ID". Use Links, Notes and Attachments if you like to. Attention: only one Item Version can be status = certified.
For Items with Item Versions a new FactBox is displaying details for the certified version (Card and List).
When creating a new Production Order and refresh it, the certified Item Version is transfered into the Production Order Line. This allows the user to track which Item Version was used when producing this Item.
